11月2日，陈建新与西班牙中国和平统一促进会主席徐松华、西中经贸文化促进会会长毛燕伟一行人带着铁锹、铲子、扫把、硬毛刷、塑料桶等工具抵达灾区，加入清淤行列。陈建新介绍说，巴伦西亚的洪灾区分为重灾区和轻灾区，重灾区仅允许专业救援人员进入，轻灾区则有大量志愿者在政府建立的救助站内整理、分发物资，同时在街道清理淤泥杂物、修复基础设施。

据了解，自洪灾发生以来，目前已经有近百家西班牙的华人社团和华人企业加入爱心行动，将一箱箱救灾物资源源不断地送往灾区，为灾民解燃眉之急。许多热心侨胞自发组织救援力量，或参与本地同乡会、华文学校等开展的捐赠活动，还有一些自媒体博主在线上发布信息，动员更多力量支援灾区。西班牙一家华人律师事务所还建立了洪灾法律援助群，免费为灾民解答在受损房屋、车辆的保险理赔过程中遇到的法律问题。
